SEM monitors water quality and laboratory results against regulatory limits: measurement points and parameters, samples and results, alerts and escalation. Laboratory reports are extracted from the PDF and checked, not retyped.

## The problem

Environmental monitoring fails quietly. Results arrive as PDF reports from the laboratory, someone retypes them into a spreadsheet, and an out-of-limit value is noticed at the monthly review rather than on the day. The record exists, but nobody can show that the escalation happened when it should have.

## What it does

1. Models the site as measurement points with parameters and limits, so every sample knows what it is being compared against.
2. Reads laboratory reports out of the PDF into structured results, flags what is out of limit or trending, and keeps the original file attached as evidence.
3. Escalates on the day: alerts, acknowledgement and the record that the right person saw the right value at the right time.

## Key capabilities

- **Sites, buildings and measurement points** — The plant modelled as sites, buildings, floors and points on a floor plan, each with its parameters, limits and sampling plan.
- **Laboratory reports read out of the PDF** — Results are extracted from the laboratory PDF, shown for confirmation point by point, and stored with the source file attached; manual and Excel/CSV entry stay available.
- **Limits, alerts and escalation** — Every result is compared with the regulatory limit on the day it arrives; alerts escalate to the right person and the acknowledgement is recorded.
- **Early detection and trends** — Period trends, early-detection views and quality indicators show drift before a limit is breached — for water systems and for the pest-control programme.
- **Deviations, reports and roles** — Deviations with electronic signature, reports and statistics, role-based access and an audit trail for every change.
